Making children of the nation with special needs stakeholders of sustainable development through a sustainable, well-planned process with the coordination of resources and people’s participation in compliance with state policies.

History

Construction of this institute as a vocational training institute cum care home for persons with disabilities was commenced in the year 2006 by the Director, Social Services of the Northwestern Province on the instructions of the then Director of the Department of Social Services. A provision of Rs. 4 million was allocated for the initial phase and the Social Services Department of the Northwestern Provincial Council constructed a single storey building.

Following the construction of a two storey building under the second phase, special attention was focused on the institute at the joint approach workshop held at the Northwestern Provincial Council. Consequently, with the special intervention of the Director of the Department of Social Services and the Northwestern Provincial Director of Social Services, the institute was launched as a vocational training centre for the disabled on 15 July 2014.

Route

The centre is located 500 meters into Devala Road in the village of Pothuvila which comes 2.5 kilometers before Madampe town along the Kurunegala - Madampe road via Narammala.
