Mission

Our mission is to build an environment required for persons with disabilities in Sri Lanka to engage in gainful employment and enjoy a good living standards by providing vocational training to them thus making them stakeholders of the economic development process of the country.

History

This institute was founded in 1968 with a grant from the United States of America. All constructions and machinery were donations of the US government. A Social Service Officer named Mr. Weerasuriya was sent to America to undergo one year training in vocational training and was subsequently appointed as its first superintendent.
