Community Based Rehabilitation is to improve the services in order to empower the persons with disabilities and their families, imparting them equal opportunities and  to raise them physically, mentally and socially making ensure that their human rights are protected.   

The main objective of the Community Based Rehabilitation is to strengthen the social relationship between handicapped persons, their families and the society they live in.   

The interconnectivity of every personal and organization is a must in the said task. Especially it is a must to establish a quality relationship among the sectors of social service, education, health and law and the each service should be co-operated in full filling the need of the handicapped persons.

This program is launched as joint task and the rehabilitation process is initiated individually after understanding the needs of the each handicapped.

Rehabilitation process initiated in the domestic environment is contributed by the operational committees of local, divisional, district and national committees and this cooperation of the operational committees will last until the handicapped become independent.

The information of the local and divisional operational committees relevant to this program can be obtained from the social services officer of the divisional secretariat or from the development officer (social services) 

Activities

  1. Organizing and coordinating of the handicapped persons and their families in local, divisional, district and national scale.
  2. Empowering the handicapped, their families and serving groups to establish the equity and rights.
  • Launching projects and providing financial aids to uplift living conditions of the handicapped.
  1. Training and appreciating the handicapped community, their families, serving groups and selected officials.
  2. Maintaining and updating a database of the handicapped personals.
  3. Coordinating the governmental and non-governmental organizations to raise the living conditions of the handicapped.
