The objective of this Trust Fund is to provide the services required by the visually handicapped persons, Rehabilitation and provisions of relief. This new attitude towards the handicapped people was inaugurated in Sri Lanka, with 1981 was declared as the international year for the handicapped people. Accordingly, an act has been approved as the Trust for the Visually Handicapped Act no.09 of 1992 and gazetted by the parliament of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. According to this act, a series of services have been inaugurated for the visually handicapped up to now.

  1. Provision of assistance to maintain and develop sports activities.
  2. Providing Bursary for below mentioned students groups:
  1. Provision of financial assistance to visually impaired undergraduates.
  2. Provision of financial assistance to visually impaired G.C.E. Advance Level students.
  • Visually handicapped children pursuing school education from Grade 1 up to G.C.E. (Ordinary Level).
  1. Granting Louis Braille scholarships (for the children in school education of visually handicapped low income parents).
  • Assistance for the treatment of diseases or medical conditions of eyes.
  1. Granting aid for various rehabilitation projects being implemented for visually handicapped persons.
  2. Providing vocational training opportunities for the visually handicapped.
