One important step in the Economic Empowerment Development Plan for the Disabled in the Puttalam District was launched on 26.01.2021 at the Pallama Divisional Secretariat.

It is merging with Mobitel. For the first time in the history of the country, persons with disabilities and their guardians were trained and recruited as Mobitel's Rural Representatives.

Pallama Divisional Secretary Lakshima Dimuthu Kumari and the Pallama Divisional Secretariat and its Social Services Division organized the event.

This program has already been launched in other Divisional Secretariats in the district and this is one step in the program targeting the development of 1000 families with disabilities as entrepreneurs in the active three year development plan of the district.
